Playboi Carti’s long-awaited third studio album, I Am Music, finally dropped on March 14, after years of delays, cryptic teases, and feverish anticipation from fans. The 30-track project features heavyweights like Travis Scott, Kendrick Lamar, The Weeknd, and Young Thug, with production credits from Metro Boomin, Kanye West, F1lthy, and more—delivering a sound that’s both experimental and explosive.

The hype translated into major commercial success. I Am Music officially debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, marking Carti’s second consecutive No. 1 album. According to Billboard, the album sold 298,000 units in its first week, though Carti claims the figure is closer to 320,000.

This debut not only represents the biggest release of his career but also the largest first-week sales for any hip-hop project in 2025 so far.

Previously, Carti reached No. 1 with Whole Lotta Red, which debuted atop the chart in January 2021. His 2018 project Die Lit also made an impressive showing, peaking at No. 3. With I Am Music, Carti now boasts three top 10 albums, maintaining his position as one of hip-hop’s most influential and unpredictable stars.
