Cardi B has officially filed for divorce from her husband, Offset, ending their seven-year marriage. The legal documents, filed on July 31, 2024, cite irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split. According to Page Six, Cardi B is seeking primary custody of their two children, Kulture Kiari Cephus, 6, and Wave Set Cephus, 3.
Just hours before the divorce announcement, speculation about Cardi B being pregnant with her third child intensified. Paparazzi photos taken earlier that day showed the rapper attempting to conceal a noticeable bump while out in New York City.
The couple, who secretly tied the knot in September 2017, have had a tumultuous relationship characterized by public breakups and reconciliations. Their marriage has been under public scrutiny, with rumors of infidelity and personal differences frequently making headlines. Despite efforts to make the marriage work, Cardi B stated they have “grown apart,” countering claims that infidelity was the primary issue.
In January 2018, just months after their wedding, rumors surfaced about Offset’s involvement in a sex tape scandal. Cardi B addressed these allegations publicly, expressing frustration but a desire to work through the issues. By April 2018, Cardi revealed on “Saturday Night Live” that she was pregnant with their daughter, Kulture, who was born in July 2018.
Their happiness was short-lived, as Cardi B was involved in an altercation at a New York strip club in August 2018, allegedly over suspicions of Offset’s infidelity. In December 2018, Cardi announced their separation via Instagram, citing that they had “grown out of love.” “I just got tired of f-cking arguing. I got tired of not seeing things eye to eye,” Cardi said when she first filed for divorce in 2020.
Offset made a public plea for reconciliation, apologizing for his behavior and admitting to breaking their promises. The couple reconciled in January 2019, with sources confirming that Offset had been persistent in winning Cardi back. Despite their efforts, including attending marriage counseling, the relationship continued to be fraught with challenges.
In December 2023, Cardi stated on Instagram Live that she had been single “for a minute now.” She returned to the app shortly after to unleash a rant aimed at Offset, in which she stated, “This motherfucker really likes to play games with me when I’m at my most vulnerable time … You really been doing me dirty after so many fucking years. And it’s so crazy that I got to go to the fucking internet because whenever the fuck I tell you something, you don’t take shit seriously, and I’m so tired of it.”
Cardi B Announces She’s Pregnant With Third Child
While Cardi B and Offset have yet to make public statements about their divorce, Cardi B confirmed her third pregnancy by revealing her baby bump on Instagram. She added a heartfelt caption that read, “With every ending comes a new beginning! I am so grateful to have shared this season with you, you have brought me more love, more life and most of all renewed my power! Reminded me that I can have it all!”
She added, “You’ve reminded me that I never have to choose between life, love, and my passion! I love you so much and can not wait for you to witness what you helped me accomplish, what you pushed me to do! It’s so much easier taking life’s twists, turns and test laying down, but you, your brother and your sister have shown me why it’s worth it to push through!”
This will be Cardi’s third child. Offset also has three children from previous relationships: Jordan (14) and 9-year-old twins Kalea and Kody.
