Kendrick Lamar is set to take the stage as the headliner for the Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show in New Orleans on February 9, 2025.
The 37-year-old rapper made the announcement on Sunday (Sept. 8) via his Instagram, posting a video where he confirmed his performance at the iconic Caesars Superdome.
In the clip, Lamar says, “My name is Kendrick Lamar, and I’ll be performing at Super Bowl LIX. Will you be pulling up? I hope so… I won’t want you to miss it.”
While this will mark Lamar’s first time headlining the Super Bowl Halftime Show, it won’t be his first time on the NFL’s biggest stage. In 2022, he performed as part of a star-studded ensemble alongside Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, and Mary J. Blige.
The announcement follows a highly publicized feud between Lamar and fellow rapper Drake. Both artists have exchanged lyrical blows in a series of diss tracks, including “Euphoria,” “Family Matters,” “The Heart Part 6,” and “Not Like Us.”
Despite the tension, Lamar’s focus remains on delivering a show that reinforces the impact of rap music on a global scale.
“Rap music is still the most impactful genre to date,” Lamar said in a statement on Sunday. “And I’ll be there to remind the world why. They got the right one.”
