Kim Kardashian recently opened up about the challenges of raising her four children—North, Saint, Chicago, and Psalm—following her divorce from Kanye West.
Speaking candidly on the What In The Winkler podcast with Zoe Winkler, Kim shared how, despite joint custody and ample resources, she sometimes feels like she’s raising her kids on her own.
Kim and Kanye finalized their divorce in November 2022, agreeing on joint legal and physical custody of their children. Though Kim receives $200,000 in monthly child support, she revealed that this financial assistance doesn’t ease the sense of isolation she sometimes feels in parenting. “No matter what kind of help I have, I’m basically raising four kids by myself,” Kim admitted on the podcast episode that aired Nov. 12.
Reflecting on her experience, Kim described moments when her children pile into her bed at night, kicking and shifting around. Even with a strong support system and many resources, these times remind her of the unique struggles of single parenthood. “I feel like there is always a lot of judgment,” she said, ‘or people always will jump to the, ‘Oh, but you have the resources to have nannies and to have help.’ And I just think that no matter what kind of help I have, basically raising four kids by myself.”
Kim went on to describe her hectic morning routine, recalling a recent day when she had to carpool five kids to school. “Everyone wants to leave at different times or wants different stuff. I feel like I’m at a pit stop of a race car driver,” she joked, “When it’s like, ‘Brush your teeth, brush your teeth, brush your teeth, brush your teeth, OK, get dressed, get dressed, do your hair.’”
This conversation comes on the heels of reports that Kanye has not been actively involved in their children’s lives. According to a source who spoke with PEOPLE, Kanye has been “sadly not around very much.” Kanye, who married Bianca Censori in December 2022, has previously expressed frustration about not seeing his children as often as he would like.
