Latto is gearing up for another chart-topping moment with her latest album, Sugar Honey Iced Tea.
According to HitsDailyDouble, the album is on track to debut within the top 20 of the Billboard 200 chart with an impressive estimated 27,000 units sold in its first week.
If these projections hold true, “Sugar Honey Iced Tea” will mark Latto’s second top 20 album, surpassing the sales of her previous projects, “Queen of da Souf” and “777” debuting at 14,000 and 24,000 units, respectively.
With the potential to add an additional 11,000 units from pure sales, the album could see a total first-week tally ranging from 26,000 to 38,000 units.
“Sugar Honey Iced Tea” reflects Latto’s evolution as an artist, showcasing a blend of introspective lyricism, trap influences, and melodic experimentation. The album not only highlights her enhanced rapping skills and confidence but also her ability to weave stories into her music, particularly evident in tracks like the reflective outro “S/O To Me.”
The album also pays homage to her Atlanta roots, featuring a diverse roster of artists who contribute to its Southern essence. Collaborations include Texan stars Megan Thee Stallion and Teezo Touchdown, as well as fellow Atlanta natives Young Nudy, Hunxho, Ciara, and Mariah The Scientist. Tennessee’s Coco Jones also adds her vocal prowess to the mix. Latto’s choice to sample nostalgic hits like Mike Jones’ “Back Then” and Black Eyed Peas’ “My Humps” further cements her as an artist who skillfully balances contemporary trends with a nod to the past.
