Lil Wayne RESPONDS to Kendrick Lamar name dropping him on ‘GNX’

Must Read

Lil Wayne took to social media to address Kendrick Lamar’s recent diss on the track “Wacced Out Morals” from Kendrick’s new surprise album, “GNX.” In the song, Kendrick seemingly took a jab at Lil Wayne, referencing the Super Bowl LIX headliner slot that went to Kendrick instead of Wayne.

Wayne expressed his disappointment and frustration with the diss, stating, “Man wtf I do?! I just be chillin & dey still kome 4 my head. Let’s not take kindness for weakness. Let this giant sleep. I beg u all. No one really wants destruction, not even me but I shall destroy if disturbed. On me. Love.”

On the ‘GNX’ opener, Kendrick Lamar reflects on the mixed reactions to his selection as the headliner for the Super Bowl 2025 halftime show. Specifically, he criticizes the lack of support from his peers, noting that Nas was the only rapper who congratulated him.

Kendrick’s verse includes pointed lines that many interpreted as a diss towards Lil Wayne:

“I used to bump Tha Carter III, I held my Rollie chain proud/Irony, I think my hard work let Lil Wayne down,” Kendrick rapped. “Got the Super Bowl and Nas the only one congratulate me/All these n***** agitated, I’m just glad it’s on they faces.”

Kendrick’s diss came amidst the controversy surrounding his Super Bowl LIX halftime show performance. While many were excited about the news, some fans expressed disappointment that Lil Wayne, a New Orleans native, wasn’t chosen for the prestigious gig.

Wayne himself admitted to being hurt by the decision, acknowledging that he had high hopes for the performance.

“That hurt—it hurt a lot,” Wayne said. “I blame myself for not being mentally prepared for a letdown. For just automatically putting myself in that position, like somebody told me it was mine. So I blame myself for that. But I thought there was nothing better than that spot, that stage, and that platform in my city. And so it hurt—a whole lot.”

Wayne expressed gratitude to his fans and supporters for helping him process the disappointment:

“Y’all are f*ing amazing. When I felt like sht for not getting that opportunity, you reminded me that I ain’t sht without y’all—and that’s an amazing reality. It broke me, and I’m just trying to put myself back together. My God, have you all helped me. Thanks to my peers, my friends, my family, my home on Sports television, and everybody repping me. I really appreciate it. I feel like I let all of y’all down by not getting that opportunity, but I’m working on me. So thank you all.”

Super Bowl LIX is set to take place on Feb. 9, 2025, at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, with Kendrick Lamar headlining the halftime show. As the fallout continues, fans are left speculating whether the rift between Wayne and Kendrick will heal—or escalate.
