Future and Metro Boomin Clear the Air on Drake Beef: “What Beef”?

Future and Metro Boomin Chicken Out Of Beef With Drake: “I regret. I should’ve been stronger than that.”

Must Read

In a recent GQ Men Of The Year Cover story, Future and Metro Boomin addressed the perceived beef with Drake that arose following the release of their collaborative album, “We Don’t Trust You.”

The album, which featured the controversial track “Like That” hugged headlines largely due to Kendrick Lamar’s verse. On the track, Lamar directly challenged Drake and J. Cole‘s claims of being the “Big Three,” asserting his own dominance in the rap game. This ignited a heated exchange between Kendrick and Drake, with both releasing several diss tracks, including Euphoria, Family Matters, The Heart Part 6, and Meet The Grahams.

However, both Future and Metro Boomin clarified that the album was not intended as a direct attack on Drake. Future expressed confusion over the perceived beef, stating, “I didn’t even know there was a beef. I didn’t even know they had nothing going on.” He also addressed Kendrick Lamar’s “Big Three” lyric, which seemed to exclude him from the conversation, stating, “I’m supposed to be the one who gets mad?”

“Nobody cares about what I think—that’s what was so f**ked up about the sh*t,” he continues. “To the point where I’m so player, I didn’t even say anything to the public about how I felt. Like, why is everybody mad when he was talking about me on my song?”

He added, “So y’all just forgot about me? I ain’t part of this Big Three? I’m nobody on my song? Man, if I didn’t get mad, nobody should’ve gotten mad. If I had gotten mad and made something out of it, maybe it’d make sense.”

Metro Boomin also shed light on the situation, explaining that his personal issues with Drake were not the primary motivation behind the album.

“Me and [Drake], we had a personal issue—and for the record, not over no girl or anything silly like that. It was something that really hurt me and disappointed me. But if you take all the rap entertainment out of it, it’s like—have you ever been real cool with somebody, and y’all fell out over something? It happens every day. This just happens to have an audience.”

He also admitted to regretting his “anti-Drake tweet spree,” which was sparked by Drake taunting him with the “Metro shut up ass and make some drums” meme.

“Now, I did have my moment online, which I regret. I should’ve been stronger than that. That was out of character for me,” Metro said.

He explained his frustration, adding, “But at a certain point, it’s like—I don’t rap, bro, so you’re just going to sh*t on me on all these songs? I’m not going to get in the booth, so I’m finna tweet at you.”

Drake has yet to respond to their recent comments. What do you think about the situation?
