His arrest comes amidst a broader investigation into an alleged murder-for-hire plot tied to the ongoing feud between rival rap groups.

On Thursday (Oct. 24), federal authorities announced that five individuals from Chicago had been charged in a California case, accused of being hired to kill Quando Rondo in Los Angeles. The charges, filed in U.S. District Court in Los Angeles, stem from suspicions that Rondo was involved in the 2020 death of fellow rapper King Von in Atlanta.

The accused—Kavon London Grant, Deandre Dontrell Wilson, Keith Jones, David Brian Lindsey, and Asa Houston—face serious charges, including conspiracy to commit murder-for-hire, committing murder-for-hire involving a death, and using a machine gun in a violent crime resulting in death. If convicted, some charges could carry the death penalty.

The indictment details a disturbing narrative of retaliation following King Von’s death. It alleges that a member of Lil Durk’s OTF (Only the Family) crew, unnamed in the documents, offered financial incentives and “lucrative music opportunities” to anyone willing to kill Quando Rondo, whose real name is Tyquian Terrel Bowman. This offer came after King Von’s death during a confrontation in Atlanta, escalating tensions between the two camps.

Tensions between the groups reached a violent peak in August 2022, when Quando Rondo and his associates were targeted in a shooting in Beverly Grove, Los Angeles. According to reports, the incident occurred at a gas station in West Hollywood when three masked gunmen, dressed in dark clothing, emerged from a white sedan and opened fire on Rondo’s crew. Saviay’a Robinson, popularly known as Lul Pab, a was fatally shot during the attack.

Rondo and the remaining members of his crew fled in a black SUV but were later stopped by police in Santa Monica for questioning. Despite efforts by paramedics, Lul Pab was pronounced dead at the hospital. He was 23.

According to Broward County records, Durk was taken into custody in connection to the murder charges on Thursday, Indicating his alleged involvement in the plot against Rondo.
