Big Sean’s latest album, “Better Me Than You,” has failed to meet commercial expectations.
Despite his aspirations to be considered one of the “Big 3” in hip-hop, Sean’s sixth studio album struggled to make a significant impact. The album debuted at a disappointing 24 on the Billboard 200, selling only 22,000 units in its first week.
This marks a significant decline from his previous three albums, all of which reached the number-one spot.
“Better Me Than You” served as a comeback album for Sean, who hadn’t released a project since 2020’s “Detroit 2.” The rapper aimed to recapture the success of his earlier work by adopting a more storytelling approach.
While the album received mixed reviews, there were a few standout tracks that resonated with fans. “Who You Are,” a flip of Usher’s “Superstar,” “It Is What It Is” featuring Gunna, and “Get You Back” featuring Cash Cobain were among the album’s highlights.
Overall, “Better Me Than You” failed to live up to the expectations set by Sean’s previous work. While the album features some strong tracks, it ultimately fell short in terms of commercial success and critical acclaim.
